Beginning on March 17th, 2005 all customers will receive truncated Social Security Numbers (SSN) and fully masked Driver’s License Numbers (DLN).

The only customers who will continue to receive full Social Security and Driver's License Numbers are those customers listed in the categories below. These customers must also certify implementation of enhanced security procedures within the next 90 days in order to continue receiving full Social Security and Driver’s License Numbers.

LexisNexis displays full SSNs and DLNs from such sources to the following groups of pre-qualified users:
  1. State, local and federal government entities with law enforcement responsibilities;
  2. Special investigative units (SIU) and subrogation and claims departments of public or private insurance companies for the purposes of detecting, investigating or preventing fraud;
  3. Departments within financial institutions for the purpose of detecting, investigating or preventing fraud, for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and for the purpose of collecting debt on their own behalf;
  4. Collections departments of a creditor, collection departments of law firms and collection companies acting on behalf of a creditor or on their own behalf; and
  5. Other public or private entities, on a case-by-case basis, for the purposes of detecting, investigating or preventing fraud or other criminal activities.
LexisNexis displays full SSNs and DLNs to these pre-qualified users for authorized uses, including these examples:
  1. Location of suspects or criminals;
  2. Location of non-custodial spouses allegedly owing child support or ex-spouses allegedly owing spousal support;
  3. Location of individuals alleged to have failed to pay taxes or other lawful debts;
  4. Verification of identity; or
  5. Other transactions similar to those described above with prior review and approval by LexisNexis.
In line with industry practices, only the first five (5) numbers of the SSN are viewable.

Please Note:
The change in display of SSNs will not affect your ability to search, retrieve, link or match on SSNs. This change will also not affect the accurate and current reports and applications that we provide to you.

Regarding the change in DLNs, these numbers are not fully displayed, but are searchable.
